The Whispering Shadows Beneath the Crumbling Mansion on the Hill Where No Light Ever Stays
The Forbidden Door That Appeared Only After Midnight
In the forgotten town of Devgarh, hidden among dense trees and creeping fog, stood an abandoned mansion no one dared approach after sunset. Locals whispered that even animals refused to go near it. But when Aarti, a curious 17-year-old girl visiting her grandmother for the summer, heard of the "crumbling house on the hill," her fascination grew.
One stormy night, driven by boredom and curiosity, Aarti sneaked out and made her way to the mansion with only a torch in hand. As she stepped inside, wind howled through shattered windows, and broken
chandeliers swung without rhythm. Everything was decayed — until midnight struck.
Then, in the far corner of the hall, a door appeared.
It hadn’t been there before.
Old, blackened with soot and iron-bound, the door pulsed as though alive. Aarti, frozen with fear, watched as it slowly creaked open — revealing nothing but pitch darkness inside. Whispers began to rise from the void. They spoke her name.
The Girl Trapped in the Mirror Who Knows When You’ll Die
The deeper Aarti explored, the more unnatural the mansion felt. The air was cold, but she was sweating. On the second floor, she stumbled into a room filled with mirrors — all cracked, except one. In it, she didn’t see her reflection. Instead, a pale girl with hollow eyes stood staring from inside the glass.
“I was like you,” the girl whispered. “Curious. Brave. Foolish.”
The mirror girl introduced herself as Kavya, and claimed she had been trapped there for over 100 years, lured by the same door and the same voices. Kavya warned Aarti: the mansion feeds on souls, and once you’ve entered, it marks you.
“You have three days,” Kavya said, her voice turning into a hiss. “Run — if you can.”
Behind Aarti, a mirror cracked. Then another. Soon all the broken ones began showing moving shadows — all reaching for her.
When the Portraits Blink and the Walls Begin to Bleed
Aarti sprinted, disoriented, through the winding halls, only to realize the mansion was shifting. Doors moved. Staircases twisted. Paintings of faceless people now had eyes — eyes that followed her. One blinked.
Blood began to seep from the walls. The voices were louder now, screaming, mocking. “You belong to us!” they cried. Each room became colder, darker. Shadows slithered under doors and whispered secrets only Aarti knew.
She made one final dash to escape — and found herself back in the hall where it all began. The door was there, still open. But now, the darkness beyond it was filled with eyes. Kavya’s voice echoed one last time: “You can’t escape. You only bring others.”
The next day, villagers found Aarti’s torch outside the mansion gates. The mansion? It looked slightly newer.
And that night, a mirror in Aarti’s grandmother’s house showed two girls inside — both staring out.
