One morning, Minister Shukracharya stormed into King Krishnadevaraya’s court, furious.


"Your Majesty! My prized cow has gone missing from the palace stables!"

The king raised an eyebrow. "A cow? From inside the palace?"

"Yes!" the minister said dramatically. "Someone from the palace stole it. I demand justice!"


Confused and slightly amused, the king turned to his clever court jester.

"Tenali Raman, solve this ridiculous cow case!"

Tenali’s Magical Investigation

The next day, Tenali Raman summoned all the palace officials into the courtyard.

“I performed a secret ritual last night,” he said. “The thief will wake up today with cow hair growing from their hand!”

Gasps echoed through the courtyard. Everyone anxiously inspected their palms — except the complaining minister, who quickly hid his hands behind his back.

Tenali squinted and pointed. “And why, dear minister, are your hands hiding?”

“I-I have a rash!” the minister stammered.

Tenali grinned. “Or perhaps... a cow rash caused by a guilty conscience?”

Justice is Served — With Laughter

The court burst into laughter, including the king.

“Well done, Raman!” said King Krishnadevaraya. “You’ve caught the thief without even leaving the palace!”

Tenali bowed. “As always, Your Majesty — no crime is too big, even if it moos in the night.”

And thus, the cow was returned, the minister was embarrassed, and Tenali enjoyed a royal meal — without beef, of course.
